This is what I've seen in students who earn higher marks than average  in DP computer science.

1. Growth Mindset: Students who believe their abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work tend to achieve higher levels of success. This mindset fosters resilience, motivation, and a love of learning.

2. Self-Regulation: The ability to manage one's emotions, behaviors, and thoughts in pursuit of long-term goals is critical. Self-regulated students can set goals, monitor their progress, and adjust their strategies to achieve academic success.

3. Intrinsic Motivation: Students who find personal satisfaction and interest in their studies are more likely to excel. Intrinsic motivation drives engagement, persistence, and a deeper understanding of the material.

4. Effective Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and avoid procrastination is crucial. Students who can balance their academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities tend to perform better.

5. Supportive Relationships: Strong relationships with teachers, parents, and peers provide a network of support. These relationships offer emotional encouragement, academic assistance, and constructive feedback.

6. Metacognitive Skills: The ability to think about one's own thinking processes helps students understand how they learn best. Metacognitive skills enable students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their learning strategies effectively.

7. Resilience and Grit: The capacity to recover from setbacks and persist in the face of challenges is essential for long-term success. Resilient students are better equipped to handle the ups and downs of academic life.

These characteristics can be nurtured and developed through targeted educational practices, supportive environments, and positive reinforcement.
